Mosites Construction Company was selected to construct the Corliss Flyover project to complete the West Busway from Pittsburgh to Carnegie.

Major components of the project included:

  • Bridge - 464 feet, 3-Spans, Over Corliss Tunnel and Norfolk Railroad
  • Three Concrete Cantilever Retaining Walls
  • Soldier Pile Wall
  • Precast Modular Wall
  • Tree wells along Carson Street

This project was wedged in a small parcel of land that connected the West Busway with Carson Street. The bridge has both vertical and horizontal curves and provides a breathtaking view of Pittsburgh as you descend to Carson Street while "flying over" the Corliss Tunnel and Norfolk and Southern Railway.
