Chatham University’s Anderson Hall renovation enhances the student experience by strengthening connections to the natural environment. In the middle of their 32-acre campus, Anderson Hall was a series of disconnected rooms with limited natural light. The new design creates a continuously connected space enhanced by strategically placed new interior and exterior windows along all facades, creating a connection with nature in every direction.
Indoor gardens were designed to bring nature indoors, providing clean air, noise reduction, a mood boost, and an indoor classroom. The extensive renovation of the existing dining hall creates a warm, welcoming, and uplifting atmosphere. It allows a seamless flow between spaces and social connections across dining areas.
