This project included the grading and drainage work necessary to construct a 1.23 mile section of the Mon/Fayette Expressway from the vicinity of Park Avenue to the vicinity of Hazelkirk-Valley Inn Road in Carroll Township, Washington County. Also included was the construction of two eight-span continuous composite welded plate girder structures carrying S. R. 0043 over Conrail, Pigeon Creek and Park Avenue and two six-span continuous composite welded plate girder structures carrying S. R. 0043 over Hazelkirk-Valley Inn Road and Wisebecker Lane. Reconstruction of Hazelkirk-Valley Inn Road and Wisebecker Lane as well as overlaying Park Avenue were also included in this contract.

Major work items included the following:

  • 1,075,000 Cubic Yards of Excavation, Various Classes
  • 7,400 Lineal Feet of Drainage Pipes, Various Types and Sizes
  • 65 Inlets, Various Types
  • 7,200 Lineal Feet of Right-of-Way Fence, Various Types
  • 2 Eight-Span Bridge Structures
  • 2 Six-Span Bridge Structures
  • 1 Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert · Roadside Development Consisting of Various Seeding Types
  • Mine Void Stabilization
  • 50,000 Cubic Yards of Concrete
  • 9,400 Ton of Fabricated Structural Steel
  • 5,000 Ton of Reinforcement Bars
