Mosites Construction Company continues successfully in the construction market of strip malls with the opening of McDowell shops in Peters Township.

Challenged by a 5 ft. building undercut and water-sensitive fill soils, Mosites build foundations through the winter months. In just three months the building shell and concrete floors were completed, allowing Kmart to begin merchandising in June 1993.

During merchandising, Mosites continued with the construction of the small retail shops, site paving, exposed aggregate sidewalks, curbs and landscaping - in all, achieving the mall's grand opening date of September 1, 1993.

McDowell Shops, featuring Kmart, includes colored split-faced masonry, standing seam mansard roofs, clock towers, medallions inset in exposed aggregate sidewalks, freestanding back-lit signs installed on masonry structures, extensive landscaping and decorative retaining walls that accent this attractive retail center.
