400
High Tower is the third building in an on-going 100-acre development
that will eventually include 14 office buildings. Impressively situated
atop the apex of a valley, 400 High Tower overlooks a spectacular
landscape that visually enhances the strong architectural form.
Beveled
bands of aggregate stucco with convex corners circle the building's
top three stories, framing bronze-colored window walls. The curved
wall detail is maintained throughout the building's central core
for ease of circulation.
Mosites
Construction implemented several strategies to cut dramatically
the time from groundbreaking to occupancy. All
building materials and equipment were ordered well in advance of
groundbreaking, for rapid sequential installation.
Structural
steel taken from a former railroad bridge was used for part of the
building, reducing steel fabrication time and project cost.
Preformed
stucco wall panels were shop fabricated for quality control, ease
and speed of installation.
Four
months after construction began, Westinghouse occupied the top two
floors - complete with elevator service.
